Our Inspiration

New York, NY

Our Hard Cider is inspired by New York City - The Big Apple - and the energy and diversity that make New York City one of the most interesting and lively cities in America. Known as the city that never sleeps, there is something here for everyone.

From the graceful welcome of the Statue of Liberty to the business and wealth centers of the world in lower Manhattan and Wall Street we find inspiration in hard work, dedication, and the promise of the American Dream. From the never ending hustle and bright lights of Times Square to the grass fields of some of the most storied sports franchises in history, we find stories of people never giving up. We are inspired by those people that encourage everyone watching to dream big and keep pushing for more. They say if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere, and we’re inspired by those that can make it here. We are inspired by these stories of greatness.

Our Hard Cider is inspired by New York City - The Big Apple - and the energy and diversity that make New York City one of the most interesting and lively cities in America. Known as the city that never sleeps, there is something here for everyone.

New York City has always been the quintessential melting pot of America. A small Dutch Trading post founded in 1624 eventually grew to become the small town of New Amsterdam. In 1664, the English Monarchy took control of the settlement and the lands were granted to the Duke of York. At this time it was renamed New York. Once the capital of the United States, New York City has been the most populous American city since 1790.

Of course, New York City is also famous for Central Park. During the autumn months, the trees in Central Park light up the dusk sky like a glowing fire in the middle of the concrete jungle. Vibrant hues of orange, red and yellow accent the pale gray buildings that stretch into lighter gray skies.

In America, ciders were some of the alcoholic beverages made by the early settlers. Following a process similar to those first settlers, our Big Apple hard cider is nothing like the commercial-produced “alcoholic apple juice.” Ours is unfiltered, representative of the brash and gritty New York City inspirations. Ours is balanced - not too sweet and not too sour - representative of the strong multicultural heritage of New York City. And finally, ours is made with Apples exclusively from the State of New York.

The Style

Hard Cider

American Wheat has been popularized by the craft beer boom in recent decades, but its historic roots trace back to German Weizen beers and Weiss beers and Belgian Wit beers.  Traditional German and Belgian wheat beers consisted of at least 50% wheat in the grain bill and specialized yeast strains that produced strong banana and clove flavors.

Before the 1980s, Wheat beers were rarely produced in the United States.  Unlike the German and Belgian beers, American Wheat beers often use a regular ale yeast rather than the traditional German or Belgian yeasts.  This offers a subdued flavor profile.  Additionally, most American Wheat beer contains less malted wheat - typically 30% rather than more than 50% of the European versions.

Our American Heartland Wheat is pale yellow in color and 4.6% Alcohol by Volume, making this a perfect year-round beer.  With natural citrus notes and a cloudy appearance, this is a great sessionable beer with a mild, bready flavor profile and low bitterness.
